Adult Power Boat
Adult Power Boat is taught at Saylorville Marina. It is a 15-hour hands-on, on-the-water course for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a motorboat and improve their boat handling skills. No previous experience is required.
In our on-the-water sessions you will learn engine and electrical systems, starting procedures, docking, and leaving and returning to a slip, close-quarters maneuvers, anchoring, steering a range, proceeding to a destination and person in water rescue.
During classroom sessions students learn safety and preparation , maneuvering concepts, registration and capacities, equipment requirements, preparation and fueling procedures, navigation and rules of the road, aids to navigation, and environment regulations.
Who should take this course?
Anyone 18 years or older who is interested in improving their power boat skills should take this course.
None! No experience necessary.
Saylorville Boat Club Members: will learn on boats that are a part of their membership. For more information on the Suntex Boat Club visit https://suntexboatclub.com/
Boat owners: will learn the course on their own boats.

This course is taught using the US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling course curriculum.
How will I spend my time?
This three day course runs from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (with a 1 hr lunch break) on Saturday and Sunday.
What should I bring?
Clothes appropriate for boating (expect to get wet), towel and change of clothes, proper fitting type III life jacket, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses with Croakie, water bottle, lunch (or money for concession stand), pen and notebook.
