The Pollywog Camp is a new offering to 5-8 year-olds by the Sailing Center and is taught at Saylorville Marina. This is a 5 day camp that develops skills so the camper can safely enjoy their time in the water. It is taught over five mornings. The camp is designed to introduce young campers to the lake; develop their confidence in the water and the basic athletic skills; and the cooperation needed for sailing. Lots of water time, games, and activities to build their ability to successfully step into a sailboat.
Who should attend this camp?
Any child between the ages of 5 and 8 who can successfully live in a life jacket and enjoys being in/around water.
Ability to play independently, follow basic safety rules, enjoy the company of other children.
All classes are taught by certified US Sailing instructors, assisted by youth counselors and volunteer adults.
There is not a certification for this course. Campers begin this course as a pollywog and graduate as a "shellback." Upon completion shellbacks may advance to Youth Sailing Camp Level 1.
